Avocado a Day Can Help Reduce Cholesterol

Consuming one avocado a day can help reduce cholesterol and reducing the risk of heart disease.

In The journal, the American Heart Association says the fruit is able to work in a few weeks to reduce cholesterol. Avocados contain unsaturated fatty acids are healthy and able to cope with the buildup of Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) or bad cholesterol.

This study provides the 45 participants who have excess weight three different feeding schedules; low-fat, moderate fat, and fat is being with one avocado per day. As a result, during the five weeks of the study, none of the participants who lost weight, but the decline in cholesterol levels.

Participants at moderate fat diet who ate an avocado every day have bad cholesterol levels lower than those without avocado diet or a low fat diet.

Avocados reduce 13 points from LDL, compared to an average of five points on the other feeding schedule. In addition to unsaturated fats, avocados also contain fiber, phytosterols, and polyphenols, which are all working to lower LDL.

Saturated fats are found in animal products, such as meat and butter, are major contributors to LDL in food. Meanwhile, the unsaturated fats in vegetable products containing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol that can counteract and helps arteries healthier.
